Our newly refurbished Downing Place buildings provide a range of fully equipped, state of the art rooms and spaces for hire.
The building is fully accessible to wheelchair users, with lifts, ramps and accessible toilet facilities.

School Groups
We are very near many of Cambridge’s museums, and we welcome school groups to come and visit us, as a place to take a break and eat a packed lunch before the afternoon’s activities. There is a modest charge of £15 for this.

Main Church
£72 per hour
The main church space offers a beautiful setting for concerts, conferences, drama and more. Hirers can book use of the grand piano or digital organ (by arrangement with the Directors of Music).
The main church measures 17.8m long by 10.8m wide (the width increases to 17.1m across the transepts). If the partition with the Emmanuel Room is open, the length increases by an additional 4.5m to 22.3m.
The maximum seating capacity is 200 when the partition with the Emmanuel Room is open; and 160 when it is closed.

The Gibson Hall
£36 per hour
The Gibson Hall is the main Church Hall, and offers a light and spacious venue ideal for dance, drama and social events. There is an inbuilt sound system and inbuilt projector and screen. There is also kitchen adjoining the Gibson Hall which may be booked separately.
The dimensions of the Gibson Hall are approximately 14.9m long by 6.8m wide.
The Emmanuel Room
£36 per hour
The Emmanuel Room is located at the rear of the main church and runs the full width of the building. It provides a self-contained space with a sink and adjacent toilet facilties, at the rear of the main Church. It is ideal for meetings and smaller gatherings, and is in regular use as a base for NightLite.
The Emmanuel Room measures 10.8m by 4.5m and is divided from the main church by a moveable glass partition. It may be booked in conjunction with the main church to provide additional space, depending on availability.
Upstairs Meeting Rooms
We can offer hirers a variety of small meeting rooms, perfect for of up to 6 people. They can be either laid out with a table and upright chairs or with comfortable armchairs for more relaxed meetings.
They all have built in video screens to ensure your presentations go smoothly.
The three pictured here are on the first floor overlooking a light and airy atrium, with a lift for those with mobility issues.

Downstairs Meeting Rooms
£24 – £36 per hour
(£24 per hour or £36 per hour when booked together)
As with the Upstairs Meeting Rooms these spaces are perfect for up to 6 people. They can also be laid out with a table and upright chairs or with comfortable armchairs for more relaxed meetings.
Each room has a built in video screen to ensure your presentations go smoothly.
This pair of adjoining meeting rooms on the ground floor is separated by a partition and may be booked separately or together; together they will comfortably accommodate around 12 people.
The Hub
£36 per hour
(to be booked in conjunction with either Main Church and/or Gibson Hall)
The Hub is an open plan area on the ground floor immediately in front of the Downing Place entrance. It has comfortable seating, a coffee machine and is flooded with natural light from the roof during daylight hours.
At weekends, if there are no other users in the building, the Hub may be booked together with the Church and/or Hall to provide a breakout space or space for small group work.
At other times, users of the building and other visitors are welcome to relax in the Hub with a coffee.
