In the words of the organizers, Evelyn and Geoff Bailey:-

A GARDEN PARTY BY ANY OTHER NAME!
Somewhere in the launch publicity for the above event, we said that we would like it to be like “an indoor garden party”; well I think we achieved that. Several tables were placed around the church for bring & buy, refreshments, Fairtrade goods, and plants, which gave it that sort of feel.

OVER 150 HYMN TUNES
This did not divert our attention from the main focus of our Minister, Nigel Uden, playing a mammoth list of hymn requests over a 12 hour period from 8.00 a.m. in the morning. We lost count, but we must have sung between 150 and 200 hymns; it was great fun and thoroughly enjoyable.

During the final stage from 6.00 p.m. Nigel played a selection of hymns covering the church year and finished “neatly” at 8.00 p.m., tired but delighted.

Over £5,000 RAISED TOWARDS THE ROOF FUND
We were glad that so many members and friends were able to help and assist, giving of both their time and their money. This all brought about the marvelous result of over £5,000 (not including gift aid), which is more than 10% of our overall target. A number of events are being planned over the coming months and we are encouraged by this initial lift to get us started on our mission.

Many thanks to everyone involved in this effort – it is very much appreciated, whatever role you played.

WE NEED YOUR HELP
And finally! We would encourage each one of us to find a way of raising money by organising an event, which may involve a much smaller number of friends or neighbours. The Fund Raising Group has a list of suggestions – if you would like some ideas, please contact Jenny Jaccobsberg on jenny.jacobsberg@ntlworld.com
